With Portsmouth about to be deducted 9 points in the Prem, this could possibly take the record off Derby County as the team with the least amount of points. Mis managed club and its always the fans that suffer.

derby fans will try anything to get rid of one of the worst records in the premiership, even by trying to do it by off field activities.

How do you work that one out? If they finish on less than 11 points, it will be their own doing. We dont have to do anything.

what im saying is derby finished with 11, portsmouth have before deductions 16, so your trying to give them the record by default.
it wont matter anyway they will still get more than 11 even with the -9.

Very true - but how would Portsmouth have gone on if they had not bought players they couldn't pay for - or even pay the wages of? Their board basically poured £60m that they hadn't got into the club, stole the F    A    Cup and reached a completely undeserved 8th place in the Prem

Sooner or later the Football Association/UEFA/FIFA are going to have to do something about clubs taking-on massive debts like this.

It does create false positions, but furthermore it's going to end-up with a club going to the wall, and no proper football fan should want to see that.

But surely thats what so many teams in the top flight are doing each season. I think its complete rubbish that clubs can spend money they dont own. The 1st of many m'thinks. Its happened lower down the leagues due to teams not having the income, now a premier team are struggling and people take notice. About time the whole of football took a long look at themselves. Not many other businesses can be run the way they are. Im a donny fan, and find it fraustrating we dont try and complete cash wise, but realism is why put the club at risk for short term gain??

The problem here is the Lure of the Premier league, there is so much money at the top that clubs take big risks a)getting thre and b) staying there. You have to get promoted, not spend too much, get relegated, keep players and build for your 2nd or 3rd promotion. Birmingham is a prime example. Portsmouth have tried to bite more than they can chew and now they're paying for it. Ash your team Donny and clubs like it are the bread and butter of english football who deserve respect for being run properly. Derby went the way Portsmouth did 10 years ago and we're still paying that debt off. The club is being run properly now and if and when promoted will investment be made available.

My biggest issue with the premiership as a whole, is the way its no longer the lads on the terraces. Its corperate 1st, followed by the everyday punters. Once the corperate money runs out, or losses interest, the brown stuff will hit the fan. Always the fans that stand by the clubs, and there the ones treated the worst and always suffer. They want to take stock of that sometimes. Gutted for Portsmouth fans.
